Several posters on this thread do not know the difference between 'she' and 'her.' And they are denigrating some nannies?

I think the fact that this Nanny is confident + sure of herself is a huge plus here.

She looks to be the kind of person that makes no apologies for who she is and what she believes.
She isn’t a sell-out - she is not going to let anyone take advantage of her and I think her attitude garners respect.

So many Nannies are afraid to speak up if they are unhappy or mistreated.
They may deal w/job creep, working long hrs or feel underpaid but will stay silent because they do not want to lose their job.
Or even a good possible reference.
Sad but so true unfortunately.

A Nanny who speaks up for herself & demands respect likely is more appealing to most families.

I agree that COVID has driven rates up more than people realize. I have 2 kids under 5 and I’m paying a college student $35 an hour to watch them both this summer.

She sounds immature and spoiled and your kids will end up the same way if you keep her around.

The nanny rates have gone up significantly so a lot of Nannie’s are doing very well. My best friend is a nanny in Connecticut and is making $35/hr for two school aged kids.

This is absolutely ridiculous. There are basically two demographics of ppl who offer nanny services. College/recent college kids who are local. Then there are career childcare providers, nanny’s included.

Local college kids tend to mostly be wealthy because this area is pretty wealthy.

I did notice my daughter has worked retail. Everyone same salary. Camp Counselor everyone same salary. Her IT job everyone roughly same salary.

I absolutely think it is the zip code. They are familiar with the neighborhood and know that if your daughter lives there, she or her family fit in with more affluent SES.

My friend is not wealthy, but middle class, and works as a nanny. She is French, slim, pretty, opinionated and families fall over themselves to hire her. No degree beyond high school, but I guess they go for the French swish. I'm French too, so I find this hilarious.
