They took a survey and DAR won. We thought the football field would have been more appropriate due to convenience, cost and because it’s meaningful.
It's actually more expensive to have graduation at the school's stadium. Chair, stage, and sound system rentals are very expensive due to the labor involved in setting them all up. Sound system rentals are necessary because the systems in MCPS stadiums are generally very poor.
It's still worth it to graduate at home, though.
Having arrived at school at 7:30am and fried in the bleachers in the direct Sun this morning, I believe all graduations should be held indoors.
A few mcps schools are graduating at umbc: ample parking, a/c, plenty of seats. Ditto for UMCP.
Ours is on Monday and we are also told the stadium doors open at 7:45. Do you think it’s better to arrive later like 8:30 to avoid the heat?

Another Wootton parent who does not want to schlep the DAR. We did that survey and I said I’d rather do it in the stadium. What parents opted for DAR? Grandparents won’t attend because it’s an indoor closed event. not one parent I know wants to go to DAR. So I don’t know who voted for it, but somebody did
