I know this is an older post but I would currently not recommend anyone attend Virginia Academy. It is not any different than public school, except you pay for it. You have to supply your own laptop, the giant list of supplies is the same as public, they are always asking for money for teacher gifts, for the new turf field, etc. The kids are the same as public and in some cases, worse. They do not have a middle school so 6th-12th is all considered upper school. 6th graders are mixing in with high schoolers. A PE class takes place at the same time so 6th/7th graders are in locker rooms at the same time as high schoolers, with no adult supervision. Adults are not allowed in the locker rooms, so you have to hope that if something happens someone will run out and tattle to a teacher to get help. Part of the building is new, but the 6th grade classrooms are all in the older section so they are crammed into windowless rooms for the entire day. They run a block system so that is a long time to be in a room without windows that should have 5-10 less kids in it. Often times teachers cannot even teach or do experiments because the behavior is so bad. They are required to have a Bible class and attend Chapel. Again, Chapel is 6th-12th so you have the kids mixing together and sometimes a more adult message than one would want for their 11 year old. There are plenty of other private Christian schools in the area, Fairfax Christian, Providence Academy, Dominion Christian, I would recommend any of those or just save your money and get the same experience at public school.
