The surrounding area for both is very conservative. One is filled with Southern hicks, the other is filled with redneck hicks.
LOL. Williamsburg is full of well-educated retirees from the DMV and points farther north. It's also next/close to Newport News, which is about 40% African-American. I'm not saying there aren't racists/hicks there, but it's a far cry from southwest Virginia.

Was there in the early 90's and never expeiences this nor heard of anyone else experiencing it either.
I haven't either and I've taught both there and at UVA. Some idiots say stuff like that - or "it's Trump country" - when it isn't - or "there are confederate flags" when there aren't. . These are mostly bored college students or young men who got kicked off College Confidential so are here to make trouble

I love it when people think their white supremacist and homophobic views should be respected, just because they have them.

Williamsburg is not any different. Most college towns, in fact, have an element like that.
Wouldn't most people not be in a truck anyway?

Are you part of the Russian propaganda development team, trying to figure out which school to put in a propaganda campaign? If so, you probably want to try to destroy W&M, because it’s much more central to democracy.
