Yep. This is what Youngkin had to say about Aimee Guidera last year.

Well, I might just be ready for charter schools. ACPS is a bona fide s#$T show, I'm ready for any and all options.

You would have to hope your kid lotteries into the charter school, because otherwise you’d still be stuck in ACPS except it would get even worse.

Yeah, it’s cute how these people assume THEIR kids will always be the ones let into the charter schools.

Interesting how people on the far left and far right have so much in common.

I saw that. But then I looked at the actual NEAP scores. The whole thing is BS. This idea that we are failing our kids- the data is all messed up.

Look at the actual test scores and state ranking. Also note- this data is from 2019. If there were truly issues, we would have heard about it so much earlier than this. This is all he has to drum up votes.

SOLs have always been kinda inflated in comparison to CC.

But Virginia schools are fine. Don’t let Youngkin trick you into funding more charter schools in this state- we have excellent schools. According to the NEAP- we are doing better than most states- including MD.

The numbers and graphs in the report are “doctored” to look bad. Look at Virginia’s actual NEAP scores. Inside Nova and Wtop got duped. Our schools are fine.

The report is bs.

It’s based on the NAEP report from 2019. Guess where VA ranks nationally?

In the top 5 - 10 states in the country.

And I’d bet my FCPS paycheck that OP is one of those parties interested in dismantling public education.

I bet you are one of those parents whose kids benefit from inflated grades. Maybe you have connections such that your nearly illiterate kid will still have a steady income no matter their life choices. But the rest of the 98% of income earners need their kid to actually learn enough to be competetive in the workplace.

DP. My kids have learned plenty in their APS schools. I have no concerns about their level of education.

My DC1, a 2016 graduate of APS, was Phi Beta Kappa in college and graduated summa cum laude. DC2 just finished freshman year of college, dean's list both semesters. Idon't know if their high school grades were inflated, but it seems like they were prepared pretty well for college.

I hear you, but then FCPS is run by people who spent years talking only about equity and disparaging tests and rankings, only to trot out the 2022 US News rankings of Virginia high schools (which were based on data from years ago) once they thought it would help counter the charter school advocates. Rather hard to discern who is trustworthy.

Closing schools for a year disparately affected low income and minority students. Shocking.... Question is whether a charter school / school choice system would have changed this?

Parent of minority senior student here: (low income, not connected) heading towards top university. 1540 SAT, 13 AP credits, 12 5’s, 1 score of 4…
Thanks public schools and teachers. Stop Youngkin and his minions.
