Even for mild illness, you have a real risk of Long COVID. A close family member had mild COVID and now has had Long COVID for more than a year. Trust me - you don’t want LC. You also don’t want the increased risk of cardiac events. Coronavirus gets in many cells actoss the body - not just lungs and nasal passages.

Yes. I had mild symptoms and did (and I have a pre existing condition). I did much better than the rest of my family (including the teens).

I'm over 50, overweight and have an autoimmune disorder. Thanks for asking. I'm not wealthy but I agree it is a privilege to be able to afford the concierge fee. (It was $29.00). Anyone can get the prescription through this service, however.
Honestly, I'm sick and really just needed to have spoken with a provider. That's not really something to be pissed about.
Can you share what service this is???
I just got diagnosed and while I'm not sure I need it, it would be great to have access to the number because this is about to hit my husband who has some health issues and my elderly mother.
They might really need it.

I believe they have to melt in your mouth 3 pulls 2x a day for 5 days and they supposedly taste horrible and can leave a very bad taste.
I'd take that over being really sick for a week with young kids.
Most people are sick for a day or two.
I'm well beyond that and still sick. You should not state things you know nothing about

I took it because I am on an immunosuppressive drug. I am on day 5 and the only bad thing about it is the bad taste, which has gotten less offensive. I feel awful, but I think I would have felt much more awful had I not taken it. I started day one of symptoms and first day of positive test. I'm glad I took it.

I decided not to bc if you get rebound symptoms it resets your isolation clock, which would push the kids' return to school date back. I'd rather have a mild case and not risk that. But in our case, I was much sicker than DH so he was able to take the lead on childcare. If we were both down for the count it would have been a different story.

OP, frankly, it pisses me off that you would pick up a medication that isn't available to everyone who needs it and then not use it. That's wasteful. It's really lousy.
In my defense 1. I'm sick so not thinking clearly. 2. I have a lot of people who love me screaming at me to get this medicine. 3. I thought I would be able to talk to a provider.
I get what you're saying, but have a little grace. I've never had covid before so this isn't something I've thought out rationally while not feeling sick and being super stressed and trying to figure out how to care for my two kids (who are old enough to cook but not old enough not to leave a disaster) from my quarantine room.
If you have young kids you need to care for, and presumably whom you don't want to give COVID to, all the more reason to take the meds.
That, or return them to the pharmacy and hope they'll take them back. If you're so sick that you're not thinking clearly, take the Paxlovid, please.
