Exactly. Just focusing on ATVs is just another racist dog whistle.

Here’s your answer, OP. Politicians won’t do anything about it because morons like PP will scream “racism!”

What do ATVs have to do with race?

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, most of the ATVers are black

Clueless.

I was waiting for this type of post. I see this sort of response all over the New Hill East Facebook group! Lol. Such an idiotic stance to legitimate complaints, but hey what can you do.

I am from SE DC so how about YOU go back to whatever suburb you’re actually from? I care about crime. We need to arrest these mad max mfers, bamma.

The only thing that's vibrant about ATVs is how they make our window panes rattle. We moved to the city for the social life and cultural amenities, not so we can be run over on the sidewalk by a bunch of reckless a$$holes.

Vibrant means live theater (of which DC has only a little) and cafes, not crime. Frankly, a lot of the suburbs are far more actually diverse than DC.

Cities don't have to suck. It is not a characteristic inherent to cities.

+1. If someone ran on a platform of reducing crime and out of state drivers in DC (or at least taxing them, fining them, and making them pay tickets), I’d vote for them in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, that would probably have to be a republican. No democratic candidate will dare address crime in a meaningful way.

Tell me you know nothing about how government, policing, and criminal just work in the District without telling me you don’t know.

DC can’t do anything you’re wanting it to do because it’s NOT A STATE. DC can’t even force MD and VA drivers to pay tickets, as it’s not a state.

So, if DC were a state, would its AG hold violent teen criminals responsible for their crimes? Would the council / mayor permit police to apprehend Mad-Max ATV riders?

Of course not. That poster is an idiot (albeit a very sure of themselves idiot, so kudos). Of course DC could address crime and traffic, they make weak attempts at it all the time. That has nothing to do with being a state.

Is this a joke? Riding ATVs is extremely illegal, especially when they’re driven down the middle of major avenues by 12 year olds

Or raced down sidewalks and through alleys, blowing stop signs and taunting the police (who aren't allowed to pursue them), as happens in our neighborhood.

Take you tired race card and shove it.

I decided to move in part after it became clear that no one was running with any intention whatsoever to even *try* to fix these issues. DC is a hellscape for gainfully employed taxpayers.

Even if DC were a state, we all know the elected officials wouldn't touch violent crime or the ATV issue with a 10 foot pole.
