You need to start with a GP first and have a full medical evaluation. There are a lot of things that can cause symptoms similar to those with dementia such as untreated high blood pressure for example. Once you can a full medical eval with blood test, etc. then you go to neurologist. If you start with neurologist, you may miss medical condition that is treatable/manageable.
