What an ignorant remark. SIDS death have decreased significantly since it’s become more mainstream to put babies to sleep on their backs, before we ever knew about this enzyme level link. Correlation does not causation, and there can be multiple pillars of safe sleep including reducing suffocation hazards by putting babies to sleep on their backs and not having loose items in the crib and eliminating other risks known to be associated with higher SIDS occurs from like smoking in home or during pregnancy.
Sleeping on backs never made a difference for either one of my kids- one was a good sleeper from birth, one was not and required sleep training long after he learned to sleep on his stomach.
