Yes, they do. At least, they do in this recipe. Maybe if they were store-bought fresh noodles they'd be fine, but homemade need a short cook to firm things up before baking. It's only 30 seconds or so, but it makes a big difference.

I buy the regular noodles because I like the ruffles on the side. The "no boil" noodles are so flat and boring.

Like others have said, I make sure the add extra sauce/liquid (probably at least a cup of liquid) to make sure the noodles can cook while I bake it. This is especially true if you are making it a day ahead, it will soak up the liquid pretty well.

I make lasagne with true bechamel and homemade red sauce. If you can multitask and know your way around a kitchen it's not hard. I'm not going to pretend that whisking a white sauce now and then makes for a more complicated recipe.

I buy the no bake noodles so no.
