I came in over 3 years ago at a higher base than you (between 150 and 160), but half of your signing bonus.

OP, what were you offered? I came in the past 6 months at what I was told was the top of the pay band - $140K with a $20K signing bonus. I've heard the pay band is increasing significantly this year though - potentially up to $160.

No way they will start a SpM from the government at low 200s. They'll offer you in the $150s.

On GlassDoor you can filter by SpM, DC area, and try to see what it's at these days. When I did the same, my offer was at the exact midpoint of my research.


Did Glassdoor show the differential for the clearance? No, it does not. But the salary bands do. And 150 is on the low end of the band for that level regardless of clearance.

Having seen the actual paybands, there is a differential. There is a range for cleared and not cleared at each level.
