My oldest was like that at 4. He still is sometimes. He can spin a whole fictional story and keep it going for like 45 minutes straight and has been able to since preschool. It's amazing to me, as I can am not even creative enough to make up an entertaining five minute bedtime story. But it can also be exhausting.

My advice is, of course, to focus on the positive aspects of this gift of gab she is. But also, that it is okay to say when you need some quiet time.

8 yo DD is the same. Never. Stops. Talking. It's something her teachers and coaches mention to me too. I sometimes wonder about her and ADHD but not sure how and where to start the diagnosis. Her pediatrician just blows me off and the teacher doesn't seem to think it's a huge deal. But its very irritating to those who spend a lot of time around her.

If she is 4 then why do you still tolerate the whining? You need to put an end to that quick

My 6yo DD is like this. Even as a baby, she babbled non-stop. I’m an introvert, and she most definitely is NOT!
Amazingly, her Kindergarten teacher tells me that she does actually stop talking at school.

Mine has sub clinical ADHD and was/is like this. She’s 16 now. Reading helped. And she’s in a lot of activities. She’s a wonderful kid but my DH and I say she sucks all the oxygen out of the room. We started sending her to sleep away camp at 11 to get a little break.

There are kind and gentle ways to say it. Parents of our grandparents' era would say "silence is golden." I say "let's take a break from talking right now" or "it's listening time, not talking time."
