Decent people aren't so judgemental.
Decent people will help stop the spread of covid in our schools.

Or are families voluntarily masking even if they let kids go maskless during the daytime?
The real question is whether schools are requiring children who have a mask mandate due to classroom outbreak to wear a mask after hours. How about unvaccinated children who are sent home for 5 days due to classroom outbreak--are they allowed to attend an after-hours school event?

Anonymous wrote:I have kids in two DCC high schools and have been gto both for events this spring, and I would say 90%+ are masking. Teachers/staff are more like 70%, but maybe many of them had covid recently? (I know quite a few had Omicron).
Both schools are on the lower end of 10 day positive percentages, even though one is high on numbers (it is a large school).
I am definitely appreciative of students' and families' care for one another by masking. I am also glad graduation will be outdoors.

Anonymous wrote:I mask because it doesn’t bother me and I don’t want to catch Covid. So many people I know are getting it now. One friend got it at a (non-MCPS) school event and all the other mom volunteers got it too.
I told DS to start masking again for the week before his AP exams so he doesn’t get sick beforehand/during. Told DD to wear a mask before her musical performance next week. If you have something big coming up and don’t want to miss it due to Covid, assess the risk and then mask if it’s important to you.

In the face of Covid fatigue, OP, all you can do is wear an N95 when you attend, and use caution when inviting elderly or fragile relatives to attend: they have to be recently boosted and wearing N95s.
I was at my child's Bethesda area middle school recently during a regular school day, and observed that half the kids and teachers were wearing masks inside.
