This! Tuck those pants into socks for a fab spring summer 22 look!

Picaridin is good skin, permethrin for clothing.

Eat the chickens at the end of the summer?

You can keep them through the winter if you want but they aren’t expensive so once they are no longer serving you, you serve them for dinner. Get new chickens next spring .

We use the natrupel and my kids have literally never had a tick. (Although the dog used to get them fairly frequently before we switched to the oral repellant.). Three kids, 36 cumulative years of living, tons of outdoor time in the Maryland suburbs. We only use DEET if we vacation in tropical areas or Boy Scout camp.

Don't spray the yard!

Agree. It's just pointlessly spraying poison. Focus on your kids and their clothing.

Too much work. The yard people come on a schedule. And so far we haven’t had any ticks and it also gets rid of all the mosquitos so our yard is usable. Otherwise we may as well live in a condo for all the good the yard would do us.

Looks like the sprays are having the placebo effect on you.

Pretty confident I can tell the difference between mosquito bites and no mosquito bites. The decreased ticks are just a bonus. Don’t worry, I don’t need your approval Karen. Judge away.

Have them carry a mother possum with them all the time. Also get a possum for your yard.

Lavender oil is an endocrine disruptor.

So is tea tree.

I don’t love deet, so I use picaridin on skin and permethrin treatments on clothing (one $15 bottle treats an outfit, lasts a few washings). While many of us worry about chemicals, tick-born diseases are far nastier. There are no plant-derived repellents that are anywhere near as effective as deet.

Undress and screen for ticks after being outside. Even if one embeds, it’s far less likely to make a person sick when removed within a couple of hours.
