I’m 59 and my hearing is good, but I also encourage you to please go for the hearing aids if you need them. My DH is getting deaf and refuses to even consider it. He misses so much. He’ll respond when I tell him something, but then later it becomes obvious that he didn’t really hear me. At first I thought he was getting dementia, but then I figured out that he’s just guessing at what I’m saying half the time. Or he’ll keep asking me to repeat myself and then gets offended when I shout at him. It has hurt our relationship —we never used to argue.

I had the same issue about ten years ago when I tried a hearing aid and it was too annoying to wear. My current hearing aid is very light and unobtrusive. I don't even notice it once it's in.

PP what kind do you have now? My mom has the same complaint about her older hearing aids and doesn't believe new ones would be better.
