When I get something like this, I go in and demand not only a free replacement but also a refund. Shame on the employees for such poor quality. A few days ago I ordered a papa johns pizza that looked like it had been made by a drug addict. I called the store and the manager personally brought me a new replacement pizza and coupon for a free pizza

You tipped at least 10% on that incorrect take-out order, right? Because if you didn't, then the DCUM tip crew will think you are a horrible, evil, no-good person.

Chipotle never gets my order correct. It’s become a joke in our household. I always complain. They used to give me a free entree but now they’re so cheap they give me guac and chips. I refuse to order from them after wasting money repeatedly on meals I don’t enjoy or can’t even eat. My kids also often have mistakes but I guess they’re less picky because they still order. A BOGO is not a reasonable remedy in my opinion since it requires a purchase.

You would have gotten a replacement meal if you want back to the store and explained that you got the wrong meal. The BOGO is for people who got the right food but had a complaint.

You probably got someone else's order The person working the counter must have mixed up the order and stuck on the wrong label.

It happens.

Be, it's cheaper for Chipotle to give you a BOGO on a future order than to issue you a refund. Hence, your consolation prize. Typical in the restaurant industry.

What is your time/effort worth?

To me, I don't approach these types of situations "on principle". I approach them based on how I want to spend my time and what my time/effort is worth. To me, I would chose to move on. Whatever time/effort it would take for me to fight it or "give sh&t" is negative value to me.

So yeah, I would let it go and move on.

(I recognize that $10 may be worth more to some other people than it does to me. I still recommend the same analytical approach. The outcome may be different.)

I never have luck with chipotle delivery but I always get a refund or a free next time

The bag is sealed shut with a sticker. Checking the order would involve breaking that seal, then breaking open the sealed bowl(s). If you're going to do all of that, you might as well wait in line and know it's right from the get-go.

I don’t go very frequently but my bowl has always been correct. I would probably go back unless I was too tired or putting kids in bed.
