What shows has he been in recently? What kind of residuals do you think he's getting from Dawson's Creek?
Not a lot.
He also lives in a remote, rural area (cheap)
He may have enough income to get by but without medical insurance, cancer treatments are $$$

I think male celebrities tend to be worse with their money. Look at Johnny Depp. Thought he would always be Hollywood’s darling and blew it all on yachts, lavish parties, impressing women. When you’re young and at the top of your game, you think the money will always come in. Eventually you get old, have a scandal or two, and find that nobody wants to watch you anymore.

Women tend to be smarter because they 1. Realize there is a ticking time limit, and their roles will drastically decrease by age 40 and 2. They often step back when they have kids to focus on family. So they start up other businesses that don’t rely on their constant presence. Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Kylie, Selena, JLo all have cosmetic companies. Jessica Alba has Honest, Gwenyth has Goop, Reese has Draper, Drew Barrymore has multiple businesses.

Women also don’t have a second, smaller head that makes them make dumb financial decisions to get laid.

The odd male celebrity will perhaps start a liquor or wine brand, but it’s not as common.

That's why those two have done a ton of films / tv in the past decade that you'd not have otherwise seen them do

Leo DiCap also lost a lot in that Ponzi scheme. He works a TON.

Exactly. However LC's choices remain niche rather than mainstream.

They also do not have predictable salaries and many of them stop working dependably by the time they are 40 or 50. I always wonder what happens to the people who were on one hit show for 5 years and then never really worked again. are they able to live forever on what they made from that show?

Most of them are pedophiles and rapists.

In an ideal world, they hire people who will give them a monthly "allowance" so as to not blow through all their money. If they want to make a big purchase above and beyond that allowance they reach out to their finance person to talk about it.

Someone in the Bruce Willis/Demi Moore family is good with their money since they bought a nearby house for Bruce to live in and can afford that and to hire round the clock care for him.

You, my friend, have found yourself on a message board here on the interwebs. The particular forum we are on is about entertainment and pop culture. This topic fits into that rubric, thus, we, the people of the internet, are discussing it.

Probably fewer are good with their money than most people. I think a lot of them never wanted to be rich and don't really watch their money because they trust someone else to handle it. Often the "someone else" either robs them blind or doesn't communicate well with the celebrity.

The ones that own multiple properties in top tier cities outright will be good regardless.
