I was thinking of giving them away this year. I tried wearing them again over the weekend to a small town event where I knew I'd be doing a good bit of walking but only for 90 mins., and by the time I got home, my low arch foot was killing me.

There are two footbeds available in Birkenstock sandals. There’s the regular “hard” one and then there’s a “soft” one. I find wearing the hard ones to be pure misery, but the “soft” bed (which isn’t very soft, mind you) is pretty comfortable. I find it uncomfortable to wear them on a long walk, but a regular mosey is fine.

I’m going to have to look into SAS again. I have super wide feet and my choices are pretty constrained, but I haven’t been ready to wear my grandma’s brand. I am now!

Hi fellow granny-sandal loves! You’re my people.

I have SAS and they’re great, and also a pair of Taos that are so comfy. Also love Earth (both the original negative heel and Earth Origins). My every day go to is my beloved Tevas though. I have two pairs of Teva Tirra that I’ve been alternating all summer for a decade and they’re still going strong.

I think I actually had them as a kid, they were some Scandianvian brand.

Yes, very! But I speak as someone with flat feet. They’re very good for stability, not rolling in, and having all parts of the foot feel equally supported, but they are not molded for high arches.
