I think there is small township near the larger flagship that has a strip mall with a big chain food store that the small liberal arts school in a warm climate does not have. So, it does not matter that the nice campus is not surrounded by a great town since there is only a small mall in the middle of the big touristy area.

It is Rhodes.


That is a tough one. My DC was admitted to Rhodes and chose another college. Great school, but the surrounding area is not great. Read them with a grain of salt, but there are some interesting Reddit threads about the area around campus. My general rule is that smaller is better for undergrad & leave the big flagships for graduate school, but I also think your daughter needs to feel comfortable and safe.

Hmmmm. How easy is it to change majors at flagship? If easy, I'd say go for that. But, do your research on it, the bigger the uni, the more divisions between schools, the more hurdles to some majors.

I agree weather shouldn't be a deal breaker. There are indoor facilities and study abroad to warmer climates.

Go where she can figure out which direction she wants to go and can get support for that.
