America has invaded, deposed governments and meddled in the affairs of dozens of countries. When we do it it’s “spreading democracy” a cue to wave the flags. When others do it we should be upset and horrified.

Should we ban afghan athletes, too? What Russia is doing is awful, but it’s far from unique.

It’s also a bit rich coming from Britain, which has effed up a lot of counties- so many of their former colonies are unstable to this day.

Im not sure how much this has to do with it, but a number of Ukrainian tennis players have been pretty outspoken about their disappointment in their fellow Russian players who have not spoken against the war, either publicly or privately, or who claim ignorance about it when asked.

That's one thing we never talk about. How dare you.

Why stop at professional athletes? We should ban any person of Russian origin from having a job in our countries and we should stop interacting with them. My son has a classmate whose dad is from Belarus and I've asked him to stop their friendship immediately. (end sarcasm)

These athletes, many of which are not superstars or millionaires have nothing to do with Russian politics. Sanction Russia, but not citizens whose only sin was to be born there.

I’m totally fine with this. Continue to send the message to the Russian people any way you can.

+1 maximum pressure and I couldn’t care less if ordinary citizens are collateral damage……they should be thankful they aren’t corpses like those piled in mass graves in Ukraine. F*ck all of those barbarians.

Not to mention ordinary citizens are the primary collateral damage for most economic sanctions, yet that’s generally not enough of a deterrent to imposing them.
