Maybe try a Sloggi bra. Provides some coverage with minimal feel. We started my DD on them when she hated both regular and sports bras. It is comfy enough to sleep with it, so I put it on overnight when we have overnight company so I can walk to the kitchen in my PJs without worrying.

It is not going to hold you up if you start running, but provides enough smooth coverage and she can take the pads out if she wants to minimize (they are there for a cold day more than boosting).

Anonymous wrote:DD is athletic and dresses the same for practice as she does to school: running shorts, sweats, leggings, oversized hoodies and tees. She is 14 years old. But she has started to delve into more "fashionable" items. She recently purchased a dress (which honestly I don't think she'll ever wear) and more form-fitting tops that she pairs with denim shorts when she meets friends over the weekend. She has been wearing her sports bras and recently asked me for real bras. I had her measured and bought some bras from aerie and a bunch of tshirt bras (demi, lightly lined, comfy, invisible under shirts) online. She tried them all on this weekend and said she hated them all because they made her boobs stick out. But any lightly lined bra will do this. She does not want the unlined ones. I'm perfectly fine if she wants to keep on wearing sports bras, whatever makes her happy, but she still wants some "normal" bras that won't show with some of the new tops/dress she is interested in. Is there a happy medium bra that is between a bulky sports bra and a seamless type normal bra? The bra must be lightly lined and not too high so that it shows with square neckline dresses/tops.

I just bought a bra for myself from Tommy John-- it's the most comfortable, flattering bra I've ever owned. I noticed that they have a lot of styles. Maybe you could look there?

I'm 38, 36A, which has always been a pain size to find, and have always hated regular bras but needed the support.
Here are my recent favorites:

I also love Uniqlo's camis with built in bras.

OP, it looks like you may have found solutions, but I wanted to add that I swear by these bralettes: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hanes-Women-s-Signature-Invisible-Embrace-Wire-Free-Bra-W561/289527237

I barely feel them when I wear them, but they have a very lightly padded liner for coverage.

This is OP, thank you so much for all the suggestions. I have ordered some of your suggestions online and will take my daughter to the mall to try some others.

My 14-year-old wore exercise bras all through middle school, but wanted a different look for high school. Comfort was high on her priority list. We ordered bras from Yellowberry and she loves them. I learned about Yellowberry from a DCUM post. Maybe your daughter would like them?

I was just at Target and saw something new. Sports bra fit, slinkier/thinner material, BUT with 2 strategically-placed soft discs for modesty. Not sure if these will shift in the wash but looked to be constructed well. Not a lined bra, no underwire or seams at all. I made a mental note to show them to my DD.

I do the Gap bralettes. I find regular bras uncomfortable.

If her fashion tastes include retro/vintage, would she prefer a 1950s bullet-style perhaps?

This is what I got for my DD when she wanted little more coverage. She has the beige/nude color. Does not show like the white or color bras.

+1 I don't wear them but I know women who do. The definitely flatten and are easy to find.

Real bras SUCK. Under wires are even worse for your skin and circulation.

Let her wear what she wants.
