Yes Pyle had like 60 advanced kids out of 1500 and Frost had 70 out of 1100. It's pretty simple math.


Crazy Frost poster. No one is saying there is a higher percentage of highly able kids than Frost. They are just saying it's not horrible like some schools where there are really few highly able kids. Also Frost has one of the most highly prepped populations in the county. All the elementary schools have buses that go to after school programs. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it does skew the testing.

This is a directive from the county. I have taught at BOTH of the middle schools mentioned in the OP. Advanced English for all. No choice for the school itself to make. From my understanding, it also makes parents happier/complain less. It's all such a mess.

Lakelands Park only has advanced English. Also when I asked 2 years ago I was told 2/3rd or so of the grade is in the "advanced" humanities class.

At Clemente I know they tried to make sections of kids within the advanced English classes. So lower, middle, high "advanced". Everyone advanced of course!

That's not bad. I have a kid in private who reads one book per quarter and three/four over the summer and we thought that was fine.

Same with ours. It is truly terrible.

No other options. Kids who are ESOL or need extra supports still take Advanced English and then take an extra class additionally for support.

MS has been useless and a HUGE waste of time. I have an 8th grader and hope it gets better in HS.
