I'm not that familiar with St. Anselm's, but it sounds like they tend to stay flexible for exceptional applicants post-deadline – which also makes sense.
Advertising it now however is seemingly a red flag.
?? It's not. New admissions people do new and different things sometimes.

St. Anselm’s yard sign in Alexandria announcing openings? This makes no sense! First, are you sure it wasn’t St. Stephen’s? Second, it might be outdated.
I saw a St Anslem’s sign today in front of the Mt Vernon Rec Center. I wonder why they are advertising so heavily in the Fort Hunt area?

What's more likely is they have openings in non-entry grades. I work at a private school and half our grades are waitlisted/the other half we can still admit a couple students if they exceed requirements.
It is unlikely financial aid would be available this late.
6th grade is an entry year and they’ve announced they’re taking more applicants (despite having a waitlist).
