The worst crime in all of MoCo is right in that spot. Much of what people think is Langley park is actually Takoma, be careful unless you are all in on living almost completely surrounded by the poorest part of the metro region and all that brings.
I live in the area. It is a great place to live, family friendly, and safe. But you just keep busting on places others call home without- I'm guessing- any first hand knowledge.
Lots of people live in the area, the low income properties that dominate it are bursting at the seams. That doesn’t mean everybody would want to. Sorry if everybody doesn’t have a glowing opinion of the poorest area in MoCo. Maybe it will get better in 30 years when they finish the purple line

Anonymous wrote:I am not interested in this particular house, but interested in learning more about this part of Takoma Park. I noticed that the TP homes here are a little cheaper as compared to the TP homes in the historic part closer to DC. Is this part of TP cheaper because it is further from the metro? For anyone who lives around here, what can you tell me about the neighborhood? We are looking for a community feel with young families in the area.

But it’s cute part of town. I love walking through there and it’s so close to Sligo Creek. Wander around and look at the neighborhood, there are some beautiful homes. And if you buy this one, do invite us over to try out the pool, my kids would love it!!
I walk it almost every day. 30-35 minutes, at a brisk but not crazy fast pace via Carroll. Easier and faster the way back, as it is down hill. The downtown area is closer; my family walks up there quite a bit, but understandably that might not be an option for everyone. I think the neighborhood is nicely located near trails, schools and the downtown, while maintaining it's quieter feel.

Absolutely, all those South Indian restaurants. The burfee is DEADLY.
That, and the MS-13
Um, there is MS-13 all over the DMV. Rockville, Annandale, DC, Silver Spring, Langley Park is not really an epicenter. FFS.
Um, Langley Park is absolutely an epicenter. It does indeed exist all over the DMV. But Langley Park has a huge problem. See a few examples:

I don't get the desire to minimize these issues.
By the articles that you submitted they are no more a problem in Gaithersburg than Langley Park - but you think Gaithersburg is whiter, so...
