Yeah I’ve heard mixed reviews about SSIMS- e.g., lots of fights and it’s just a really big school. Funny enough when we bought our house around 12 years ago, Sligo didn’t have a great rep- it wasn’t uncommon for parents to send kids to private for just the MS years- but there was some optimism that it was “improving.” Now it seems like almost everyone in the neighborhood sends their kids there.

SSIMS is much more popular under the new principal.

Flora Singer is by far the best ask any parent, teacher, teacher asst. or sub.

+1

We have had kids in both French Immersion and the "academy" (fancy word for the non-immersion neighborhood school program) and the teachers have been great in both programs. The parent community is active and engaged and fundraising efforts are pretty top-notch. Admin is probably the weakest link, but it's still pretty good and better than it was before the current Principal took over.

The former acting principal at Sligo is going to SSIMS this fall.

? Woodlin seems wildly popular?

(We’re not there.)

Yeah- it’s nobody’s favorite. Principal is awful. I know someone who subs around and avoids that place like the plague.

These surveys are too old to be relevant

The MD School Report Card includes some more recent survey scores. Unfortunately it does not have specific questions but it gives a score for the student survey and the teacher survey. Based on the most recent data, of these three schools Flora Singer is the best and Sligo Creek is the worst. Haven't looked at how much these change year to year.

Flora Singer is the absolute best. Teachers love it there and students too. A real gem!

Overall, I find communication from the school lacking. One of our kids has had a great year, the other so-so due to their specific classroom teachers.

Like one PP said, a lot of a kid's experience in early elementary comes down to their teacher, which is impossible to predict/make decisions on.

+1. And also their classmates
