I don't think the bread knows what brand pot is being used to bake. Personally, I use a ceramic/clay bread cloche, but I used a Crueset dutch oven before, because it's what I had. 5.5 quarts seems like a nice size for round loaf

I use lodge Dutch oven for sourdough. It’s great!

The dry heat and high temperatures in the oven eventually take a toll on your Le Creuset. They just came out with a bread specific model but it’s very expensive.

I use a Lodge for all of my sourdough baking. I am a long time baker, even before the craze and I have used this since day one you will not be disappointed . It’s also cheap. OP here. I'm thinking about buying the Lodge, because it looks like it is best suited for this type of bread baking in high temperatures. It also is very inexpensive.

enamelware has been great for 25 years. Don't waste your money on le creuset.

Don't pay for the expensive brands. It really isn't necessary. I'm someone who cooks a lot and my knock off
