I think they look very cold and dated and I’m surprised the look lasted beyond a year or two. However, I think a lot of people find it easier to furnish and decorate a home with such a simple whole-home color scheme. And there’s something to be said for that. We don’t all have hundreds of hours to spend on Pinterest and we don’t all have the money to hire interior designers.

Green? Can you provide examples? I've been house hunting for months and I don't think I've seen any newly-done green interiors.

This is definitely right (natural wood, beige, warmer tones more in style) but I think the new builds/renos lag the design trends by a few years because they need to appeal to the broadest swath of people possible. I was house shopping up until recently and the white/black palette with brass hardware seems to be dominant (bonus points for a waterfall island, which I personally hate)

Ha, I hope this is true. I like my white and grey kitchen with marble-pattern quartz and stainless steel appliances
