OP here. HA. I would love this. Don't know if it's quite feasible yet. It happened once but it wasn't a full weekend really, since Sunday they came back pretty early.

A friend used to have her husband take their two kids on a long weekend trip twice a year so she could declutter with full attention.

personal organizer first. i personally, couldn't do this. i have to work on cleaning out things by myself. other people "helping" stresses me out.

maybe get a mother's helper and tackle an area or two at a time. your husband can help. even if he doesn't do the stuff you do he can help by getting trash bags/taking trash or donations to the car. taking things where they need to go etc.

after you have the organizing done then the cleaning will be easier

What I actually would like is to hire a part-time cleaner and babysitter. However, my house is disorganized and full of clutter - something I can get under control with a weekend-long herculean effort, which I put in every so often, but that's unsustainable, and which leaves me drained and spent. I have two small children and am always one lazy/sick/trip away/having-people-over weekend away from chaos, which it takes me another week to recover from (in terms of cleaning up, washing sheets from visitors, unpacking from trip). My husband works a flexible but time-consuming job (think academia), and between us we just don't have enough time or energy resources for all the things we need to do and also watch the kids for each other.

And in terms of organizing and de-cluttering: I just don't know where to begin. I seldom have 4 hours in a row of total concentration, much less during the DAY when I'm not really tired, much less a WHOLE DAY. And when I undertake a big project, I often don't have time to finish it in a day and then it's even worse than when I started.

So, to summarize: what kind of service can I hire that can help me get my stuff/organization under control, maybe for a reasonable price? I am located in southern Baltimore.

Are you planning to pay $45/hr? Do you really expect a babysitter to be a cleaner AND and organizer? Come on now.
Thank you!

OP here. No, that's not what I expect at all. I would like to hire an occasional cleaner to help with deep-cleaning and cleaning I can't physically get to, or takes me a long time. I would like to hire a babysitter for other things, like doctors' appointments and job applications and larger home improvement and errands and all sorts of things which are hard to do with two girls in tow or underfoot constantly wanting attention, and without me resorting to screens.

However, I also want the babysitter to have a reasonable space to play and have all the supplies they need on hand. To organize such a space requires evening pre-prep that I don't often have the ability to do.... ANd it's the same thing with a cleaner. If I don't want the cleaner to deal with clutter, because it's not fair to them... I need to deal with the clutter, which requires time, which I don't have.

Anyway, that's the cycle. I got some good advice, thank you. I'll look up this Dana White!
