Is it a rapid?
Yes, rapid, results in 10 minutes, automatically sent to the school. When you sign in you enter the student ID number. It was rather seamless. So happy to not have to go to our ped for this!
Just a heads up, this testing is ONLY for kids who are sent home with COVID like symptoms OR students who are id'd as close contacts (unvaccinated, asymptomatic, and identified as a close contact via exposure that occurred at). Not for pre-travel testing, woke up with a sore throat, etc.
No, not correct. I called my kid in sick to school with a sore throat and was told by the attendance office I could take them here to get tested and get the return to school clearance. We did it with no issues. i agree this is not for travel, etc.

Anonymous wrote:I don’t get why people need the doctors notes? Whenever my kids have had a non-covid illness this year, all we needed was the negative covid test (which we did through curative) and then they could go back when they were better.

How did your school instruct to take the test proctored?
NP. We didn't use the test that DD brought home from school in January. Instead, I picked up a specially labeled Binax from the school, downloaded an app, did a proctored test, and sent the results to the school. It was remarkably easy, and I appreciated the fact that I didn't have to drive to any test site, or get a pediatrician appointment just to confirm a negative.
That is great to hear. Was your kid a close contact, or did they have symptoms? Asking b/c we had to go get a doctors note earlier this week even though we tested negative for COVID with congestion.
These doctors notes requirements have been swamping pediatric offices. Really wish schools would stop this practice. It just makes it harder for truly sick kids needing medical care to get appointments.
