That poor kid probably thinks her parents are so useless she needs to take care of her own crap on her own!

My daughter who is 7 gets up on her own, gets dressed, brushes teeth and is ready to roll without me intervening. My older daughter was about 9.

Depends on what type of child you have.

My 13yr. old is a morning person so he does everything on his own. However, my 16yr. is a mess (and has always been), snoozes the clock at least 3 times, doesn't eat breakfast and is always running late.

+1 Two of my 3 kids have ADHD. One of the kids with ADHD has been getting himself up/fed/out the door on his own since 6th grade. The other is 19 and struggles with getting up on time.

If you are asking when did they do it without prompting, and with management of their own time? Then 3-4th grade (some parts starting sooner.) If you mean when did they get ready for school completely alone with us sleeping or not home? Never.

One of my children did this in 3rd/4th grade, but with middle school starting so early needs me to wake them and make breakfast again.

5th grader gets up on her own and makes her own breakfast. Doesn't have to get herself out the door by herself though-younger siblings mean a parent is around.

HS freshman, 7th grade and 5th grade here. Three different bus/ school start times. 14 yr old sets multiple alarms starting at 6am, I usually force her out of bed at 6:30. MS 7th grader has always been an early riser so he’s up and eating by 6:30. I drop HS child to bus before 7 and throw some food at her since she mostly is concerned with outfit and makeup and is an athlete and AP student so not sure where her high function is in the am. MS kiddo gets a ride most days, eats breakfast and packs his own lunch on own. 5th grader baby of family barely gets out of bed to get to the bus, no breakfast, I pack her lunch might before and lay out her clothes still. It’s a wide range of function here and I am WFH most days by 8 am. Some days it is magic, some manic.

^ oldest would also forget she left alarms set and get in the shower. This just works best for all. Days I've had to be gone early, they manage fine on their own due to the routine I think.

8th grade. Up, dressed, eaten, lunch made, and walked to school. Soul parent here and she had to because of my job. I was nearby but working.

I still wake them. Two wake up calls (15min apart) and an offer to turn on their room lights on the 2nd call. (1st wake up is open doors & hall light on).

Oldest was letting her alarms blare, waking up super early for makeup, setting like 10 alarms so this way youngest gets to sleep until wakeup time and oldest just uses a healthy amount of time to get ready (extra time if she wakes up on the first call). They are 11 & 15.

Lol, wait until you have a teenager who has to leave the house while it’s still dark out.

Our high schooler(s) would leave the house before we were awake. They were never marked tardy. They never skipped school. We had 2 children in high school different years. At the time they did not seem similar. I would have said one lacked some maturity and was not as conscientious but they both got themselves to school, independently, on time without us.
