Yes. This is my feeling too. We’ve hammered into kids that they have to wear masks for two years. We need to help them understand it’s okay to not. And for kids who are doing it because they are anxious or they want to feel safe or they are middle or high schoolers and want to hide behind masks — we are not setting them up for living in the real world.

Or I’m raising an empath who is able to think of someone else than himself. Also, the evidence that masks, seatbelts and helmets etc protect people is there. As is evidence that a mild case of Covid could have devastating long term health consequences for anyone.

What’s the endgame though? Some magic treatment pill? Or a “better” vaccine that may take years to develop? Continuing to pull out all the stops to prevent even a mild case of Covid is ultimately going to be a lot of work.

DP, but that goes for mental health, too. Mental health is health. Why is COVID the *sole* public health outcome you're considering? No one in any position of authority thinks that's the case (thank god).

If we are going to be honest we have been raising our kids to be fearful since before COVID.

I stopped by my kid’s Silver Spring ES this week and of the kids I saw, around 80% were masked. We are still sending our kid masked because of health concerns in our household.
