Without a receipt, they will think you are crazy. What would stop just anyone from trying to cheat.

I’m puzzled here by how much you think that you were overcharged by. Once I called because instead of $121.00 the charge on my credit card ended up being $1,210.00 but that was super obvious and the manager fixed it right away. If you are calling for anything less than $100-$200 I would think that you are crazy.

You went onto the website, totaled up what you ordered, accounted for tax and tip, and don't think it matches what you were charged? But you don't have the receipt?

If it isn't an egregious overcharge, who has this kind of time?

If it is egregious, why didn't you catch it at the time?

Finally, you are SOL if you are basing this on the website prices rather than the prices on the menu, which you saw when you ordered.

Also, they may have charged a bill split fee or an additional gratuity based on the full group size, not on how you split the bill.

Having worked in restaurants and having a daughter who currently works in a restaurant now I would say that if you bring your issue to the attention of the management they will most likely do their best to help you figure it out. I'd definitely try that before contacting Tom Sietsema's weekly chat!

Did your friend tell you the amount you owed? Maybe your friend divided incorrectly?

Your friend is the one with the receipt, right? Why not ask friend before approaching restaurant?

Is there a gratuity added in? Tip?

I emailed once to check the pricing and they obliged. It turns out my bill was correct and I just wasn't used to 11.5% tax (total) you have to pay when you eat in city of alexandria.
