I think about the many tables placed now in the street like at two Amy’s and cactus & many more in Bethesda.i never wanted to sit there out of fear of this happening.

The Parthenon’s tables were set back with a sidewalk between them, as is the norm. Makes you think.

For the love of God, can we please just take people's car keys away on their 80th birthday. Nothing funny about this, at all.

This could happen to anyone - not paying attention, health emergency, drugs/alcohol....Scary.

It has already been stated that it was an elderly driver who confused the brake and gas pedals.

Omg

People drive like maniacs on CT. They need some kind of traffic calming.
Those poor people.

I can’t tell if you’re very stupid, or just very sheltered, to think that *no one* over 75 can safely drive a car.

Then presumably they’d pass a driving test.

PP was obviously responding to the comment directly above theirs, about not letting anyone over 75 drive a car.

Drove past this morning and it’s still a devastating scene. I was surprised at how much hasn’t been cleaned up yet. So sad. I’ve had thoughts before when eating outdoors on busy streets how the traffic is dangerously close.

Things like this get to me. I think about details like it was a beautiful day and I bet people had that casual chat about choosing to sit outside to enjoy the weather. How the staff must feel to have served these folks, not knowing what was about to happen. So awful.

Not sure if you’re in the DC area, but that is the name of a restaurant, OP is not referring to a Greek Ruin.

Yes, I was googling “Athens cafe driver” type of word strings!

I’m in Jersey and this was bad enough to make the NYC 11 pm local news here. Good lord, what a horrible scene. A nurse was sitting outside at the Starbucks a few doors down and ran to help out.

I think 75 should be the cutoff. It won't happen because the elders vote.
