Bella B Mangle Detangle has worked well for my daughter with long, straight, fine hair that is very prone to bird's nest tangles. We used to use the Honest Company's detangler but find Bella B works better and doesn't leave a sticky residue. Haven't figured out the best shampoo/conditioner yet.

I have hair that tangles easily and detanglers help but the key is to start brushing from the ends and work your way up. That way you don't make the loose tangles tighter as you glide the brush down.

I use Silk Therapy on my hair and sometimes a tiny bit of that on DD if I absolutely need to. I think coconut oil works in a pinch too.

My 6 year old and we are part asian as well.. same thing .
This is what works:
100% pure silk pillow case
Native conditioner every evening at bath time
after bath use a WET BRUSH to get out all the tangles before bed (we bathe before bed at night)
In the morning use Honest Detangle spray before school and brush starting from bottom to top

Have to do it daily or it becomes a bird next again.

We use California Baby detangling spray with a WET brand wide tooth comb when it’s wet, and then again in the am with spray and a brush by same brand. Ours looks like a cave girl when she gets up. Keeping it trimmed helps some.

My mom always braided my hair before bed and I wore a cap too. At some point she convinced me to brush it out, prob older elementary- I was very tender headed - poor mom! My hair is mostly straight but curly underneath.

Leave-in conditioner after shampooing
Detangling spray before combing
Regular trims to clean up ends and cut in layers

And get a Wet Brush.
