Infertility. We are liberal and this happened to us.

If they are white, healthy little white babies to adopt are few and far between.

Not all fertility treatment is successful, but no one talks about it.

I would assume nothing and mind my own dang business

Two things:

1) Conservative couples marry young because they WANT TO GET IT ON. Children are a byproduct of GETTING IT ON.

2) Your assumption that fertility is not an issue for a couple in their mid 20s is an erroneous assumption. In fact, fertility in human beings is declining precipitously worldwide thanks to how we have polluted our nest with endocrine disrupters. (It is affecting other species, too.)

Birthrates are also falling due to other factors that have more to do with family planning and the eduction levels of women and opportunities open to them, but the science on declining fertility is becoming clearer and clearer. Even if we weren’t making the planet less hospitable to our species through AGW, we have already polluted it so thoroughly with forever chemicals - in the tissues of 97% of all human beings alive - that it is likely our species will dwindle over time thanks to infertility.

I know two couples that married right from college and did not have children for many years - 12 yrs for one and 7 for another. Both had fertility issues. I think the one at 12 yrs did not try until 5 or 6 years and then found out they had issues. Met them after they had dc and it came up gradually. The 7 yr couple very religious and conservative.

I would say one never knows and should just accept them where they are.

My parents were married for 10+ years before I came along. Fertility issues. They married at 23. People assumed all sorts of things. IVF wasn’t an option then and they were well on their way to adopting when I was conceived. They waited until my mom passed the 6 month mark before exiting the adoption process because they were so worried something would go wrong with the pregnancy.

So I would assume that I am not a close enough friend to know what’s going on and nothing more. Could be anything. Or nothing.

Your thread title is weird op. I don’t understand why you’d assume marital issues instead of fertility issues. Or a lack of desire for children.

It happens. I spent many years in various online communities dealing with infertility. There were plenty of twenty-something women in there. It’s not common, but it certainly happens.

Okay, and? Who knows why they don’t have kids yet. There could be a number of reasons and many are likely.
