Will the higher price mean cutting out vacations, date nights, driving old cars? It’s no fun being house poor. However, moving stinks and if you can see yourselves in this house for many years, it might make sense to spend more for the house you really want.
OP here. We can afford all of these expenses with the home she wants. I just believe in living more frugally and not spending a bunch of money.
What is your HHI?
OP here. About $550k.

Our budget was $1.5 and the home is $1.8. The house is very nice but a little large with 5bd 5.5ba and 4500qft. We were originally looking for a 4bd with around 3,000sqft. We will use the space with grandparents flying in to visit every couple of months and for holidays.
My wife is a wonderful wife and mother. She is extremely selfless and does so much for me and our two young kids and never asks for anything in return. I feel like I should buy the home because I know she takes pride in having a nice house and she rarely buys anything expensive for herself.
