Now, all you need to have happen is for one of the other families offered Admit spot with same amount of FA you need to decline. no, because they over-admit. Traditionally they go over by about 30%. I've had kids admitted twice to a Big3 and at the accepted student days the number present was over the desired yield by about 30% (e.g. goal was to form a class of 12 but 17 accepted students were at the event). Last year they got burnt with higher yields so they were probably more cautious this year.. but still. They all had a cushion. Maybe this year it's 10-20% but I'm sure they built it in. Their numbers don't work if 10-20% of kids decline

Exactly. Depends on the school. Some use the WL for its intended purpose and some do not. If you use the search function, there are a lot of threads that go into great detail on which schools.

I’m sure your kid is great, but what do you think it is about him or her that would make those three schools all give you significant aid. There must be a lot of kids looking for aid. Don’t the schools have to think there is a pretty big chance you will actually enroll before admitting students with aid? What if they offer aid to a lot of students and then have them all accept, would they actually have enough money? Do the schools all offer a similar amount of aid to families or do they accept a family who is asking for aid without aid and let them decide if they want to come?

Anyone get a rejection from Sidwell K? I am under assumption it’s all WL

It depends on the school. If you are on the WL for a school you really want definitely let them know and check back on occasion BUT don't spend all your time working it. You need to get moving on your back up plan especially if you do not have one. Perhaps you will get lucky but maybe you won't. You will feel better if you proceed to the back up plan. I did and it was a much better choice it turned out.

We too are waitlisted at the schnol we really want. We already asked someone on the school's board to help. Besides letting them know it is still our first choice and to continue asking is there anything else we can do? I want to make sure we leave no stone unturned.

It is a wait pool, so it isn’t ranked or numbered.

Usually some other factor. The class needs to be balanced, boy-girl, personality, etc. it’s never timing.
