If I understand the OPs point, they think the whole county should be like DTSS? And no where else in the county can be different.

That’s the only conclusion I can draw from someone who professes to be pro-density and angry at old, rich white people. DTSS has lots of big apartments, it’s diverse and it’s not rich.

It also has a good bit of crime and cannot sustain retail businesses, aside from restaurants and bars.

I think Friedson is the most level-headed of them all, followed by Katz. For example, Friedson was the only No vote on the new law passed this week to require all restaurants to offer a healthy kids meal option. It's bad for business in general, and espeically small business. Let teh consumer decide.

Friedson is a classic case of immaturity. He should never have been elected. He spends more time mugging for the TPSS crowd than representing his constituents interests like a true adult. He’s also fully beholden to developers and a sock puppet to his mentor Franchot. Just absolutely worthless. An average D1 resident would do a better job.

They really do first responders and victims a disservice by demanding to be seen, and getting in the way. They could have staged their political comments elsewhere. They really could. They have no say in disaster response, and shouldn't. Opportunists.

It’s sad. It was already heading in that direction before the pandemic hit with the moving of Discovery but I just don’t see how it rebounds from this. So much of the office crowd will never return en masse. I have friends who work at NOAA and when they return it may only be one day per week.

Yup- this county has really shown its colors with this pandemic. It may have the facade of being a family-friendly place to live, but how it’s treated kids during the pandemic shows that it’s not.

This is very true. How many UMC people zoned for W schools who in public appear to care about equity, antiracist curriculum, etc. would support a major change in school boundaries that brought many more black and brown kids into their schools and brought their house value down or slowed its appreciation? Very few. It's called defacto segregation.

But the rick folks won't move out. I see the county just becoming more and more segregated--about 2/3 of the schools becoming predominantly poor/FARM and minority, and the other 1/3 or maybe fewer being insulated white/Asian UMC. The true middle class will have moved to other counties because they stomach the schools that they get for the house price that they can afford.

MoCo is the Blanche Devereaux (from 'Golden Girls') of the DC area: Thinks she still has her looks--great schools, good government--but lost them some time ago.

DC is steadily on its way there, with our ridiculous crop of far-left crazy council members who love homeless tent camps in downtown, as they stay home and Zoom.
