Yes and use cast iron and be sure not to put too much potato in the pan at once. Thin layer only!

I’m also quite a good cook who prefers shredded hash browns but ruins them at home. Do you have the McCain’s brand in the US (I’m in Canada)? If so, get the “coins” - they’re like patties but oblong shaped and perfectly seasoned and bake up brilliantly and the only hashbrown I’ve bothered with for the past 3 years.

Buy the patties, use a hot cast iron or other heavy pan, or air fryer.
