This piqued my interest, as never thought of UF this way. But seems to be trending up in the last 5-10 years. Impressive rise into T25 on Forbes list, and right there with the other schools on UsN.
Here was last years Middle 50%, so likely much higher this year with all the competition:

ACT
30-34
SAT
1330-1470
And one of the top schools for sports. Congrats Gator Nation

It’s ranked #5 for public schools. But the 5th ranked public isn’t in the same league as the top three. This isn’t HYPSM. Berkeley, Michigan and UCLA are in a league of their own. Then comes UVA, UNC, UF.
UF is a US News #28 overall for publics and privates.. UCLA is #20, Berkeley is #22, Michigan is #23, UVA #25, UNC #28 (tied)
Almost 150,000 to ULA and over 130,000 to Berkeley. Your alma mater has about 85,000 this year. These numbers are crazy!
Yup. And they had over 60,000 applications this year. My son just got accepted as well, and is super excited to attend (over my alma mater Michigan). Big 3, 3.9 uw, 34 ACT
And Florida required test scores, so the 64,000 that applied had to fall within a certain range or they were wasting their time. The other schools were optional, which means more pie-in-the-sky hopes and dreams were shattered. UF likely had a very strong applicant class as a result, especially for out of staters.
85% of UF students are instate. Florida, as a state overall, does not have very good public school systems. So the strength of the applicant class is severely skewed toward instate residents.
Wow, VERY tough to get in as an out of stater - way to go!! Great school

There are over 35,000 undergraduates at UF. Your 6,000 slots is a lowball figure.

UF deserves the rankings rise, but it’s got a ways to go to be among the very elite public schools. It’s heading in the right direction for sure. I assume it’s just a matter of time before it overtakes UNC and UVA to become the premier public school in the south.
