Depending on the cemetery. Houses around Oakhill is very nice.

So interesting! We live very close (1/2 block away) to Rock Creek Cemetery and find it to be a positive. Have never felt any reservations about it.

No. I don’t really want to think about death every time I look out the window or leave the house.

Do you know how many wars have been fought on this very land? Hope many people have died where you stand? And you talk to me about being afraid of cemeteries

OP here, it closed back in 2003 I think so it's not an active cemetery. Full disclosure, this property was in Ashton, or is in Ashton and its a historical cemetery no longer in use. Put in an offer at the asking price, didn't get accepted so we probably got outbid. The entire project is a tear down, and the price was so low that we probably could have done the entire thing for about 750K, maybe less. Had the builder and everything lined up, will be curious to see what the finished product is.

I love cemeteries. They are so peaceful.

Only if there was a large privacy fence between the house and cemetery. Dead people don't roam around, live people do. And for some reason the cemetery grounds experience vandalism. A LOT.
If the cemetery were all fenced in that would be a plus. Having security cameras would be a plus plus.
One thing else, some people tend to drop off unwanted pets at the cemetery. Don't know why but they do.

Think I saw that horror movie.

Better than an active mental hospital.

The historic house next door to me, which recently sold, actually had a cemetery on the property. Several generations of the family are buried there. It did not deter the current owners.

No, bad Feng Shui, same for funeral home.

Also don't like house near the community retention center.

I would be careful. I live in such a neighborhood but on the other side. Houses that back to the cemetery were very happy for years. There was a large patch of trees separating and no one had an issue. Then cemetery owners tore it down and all these houses see is the cemetery. I would be fine with it, even if the house was just on the other side of the street. But no, I would not back directly to it. I don’t want to look at that every day, but I don’t mind driving by it every day.

Aren’t parts of Georgetown sitting on top of an old cemetery? That doesn’t seem to scare off buyers there.

That said, no, I would not buy a house near a cemetery.
