A strong leader is more important than having him be Catholic. He obviously took the job knowing the mission of the school.

This thread is similar to a discussion from 2018 about Stone Ridge when they put a gay man as head of upper school. While Head of Upper school at HC is not gay, it is a noteworthy decision and definitely sends signal the school going in a different direction. New parents might want to dig a little deeper to see what's going on there so expectations not met?

Would you say "grow up" if Morehouse College hired a white president? Do you think Gonzaga or Georgetown Prep would ever hire a female president? NEVER. But parents are "whiny" if they expect a Catholic all-girls school to hire a Catholic woman in a leadership position? This is nasty and disparaging to those who expect a Catholic school to actually reflect the values they "claim" to preach...
Additionally, how is it when a parent asks a question on this post they are immediately dismissed as someone with an axe to grind or trying to get other families to decline admission. Ridiculous! If you are not knowledgeable about the community in question then don't comment!

Catholic family with three girls who is considering HC when girls are older.

The quality of the academics matters just as much to us as a Catholic education. If the new HOS for the upper school has a positive impact on the community, it will stay on our list.

It’s not like they hired someone who is anathema to Catholic values for this leadership position. Presumably this new person lives a life consistent with the Catholic faith, even if they aren’t Catholic.

I wonder if someone who is afraid their child won't be admitted is trying to get people to give up their spot.

So it’s a non issue. Head of upper school should be focused on academics and other things. Pretty sure the head of upper school at other schools is not of the faith of the school.
