It it werent in the Ivy League, it wouldnt be that big of deal. These days, the Southern Ivys are all as good is not better.

Emory, Duke and Vanderbilt are better schools.

Neither of these statements are true

For our Big3 school in DC, it is 100% true.

If you are in DC, how would you know if there is a NY resident preference in the land grant colleges? There is no official quota or preference.

Even at your "Big3 school" how could you possibly know that only legacies get in? What is your data set?

Yes, Rice! But we do want him to see some other choices before deciding on his ED.

It's beautiful. I don't find it suburban by any stretch of the imagination. It's a pretty campus with a cute Collegetown neighborhood and rural beauty all around.

+1 The only person I know currently at Cornell is an out-of-state, non-legacy, non-URM from a GS2 public high school.

I'm guessing you were rejected due to your lack of reading comprehension skills. This has nothing to do with OP's question, but thanks for playing.

No. I think RBG, Ken Dryden, Carl Sagan and Hans Bethe. Among others.

My non-legacy MD kid is enjoying her sophomore year!

I went there and loved the campus, but I agree it’s not easy to get to. Our DD is applying this colleges this year and we only visited the nearby ones—saving the others (California!) until she actually gets accepted.

Agree. Its just that DC is trying to decide on a ED school. Visit is a must for the ED school.
