Post 02/15/2022 09:29     Subject: Would you expect anything from guy on V-day after 4 dates?

Once I happened to go on a date on valentines day with somebody I had been dating for a very short period of time. I think there was just an event we really wanted to go to that happened to be on valentines? Anyway, he brought me a single flower, not a red rose, and said "every girl deserves a flower on valentines day." (I was 19 or 20 so the "girl) part wasn't weird.)

I thought that was perfect. If I hadn't seen him that day I don't think I would have even expected a text.

If he was really into you, this would be a perfect time to put some effort for a nice dinner, flowers, etc.

Not so into you, nothing would be expected.

+1 Though I'd also suspect he wasn't that into me.

It would signal to me that he is definitely not that into me.

This. If you slept together and he didn't give you a gift or flowers, then he's in the wrong.

I don't understand the women with low expectations. I had just started dating my husband when Valentine's Day came around. He took me out to dinner and gave me a bracelet and flowers. I get that OP's guy has kids, but 4 dates in is enough to do something like dropping off flowers or chocolates even if you can't spend the evening together.

Agreed. Simple flowers from Trader Joes would have been a nice gesture. It doesn't have to be expensive. Four dates in is enough of an investment to demonstrate more than a text for Valentine's Day. He could have done something over the weekend since he'd have the children on the actual day.

It's fine, OP.

Did you do anything for him?

Yes I would. At the minimum expensive chocolates(special order not the type you can just pickup some place) and a small cash payment(3-4 figures).

Hope, yes. Expect, no. Some guys think it’s stupid and never want to do anything. They may be committed but are not romantic in a Hallmark holiday way.

Agree. By four dates you know whether you want to step up your game and say something.

If you already had sex, at least chocolates or flowers.

I got a happy Valentine’s Day text. Perfectly happy with it.
