I'm becoming more inclined to tip people who work in outdoor or more strenuous conditions. Today I tipped the clerk at the deli $5 for my kids' lunch meat. Last week I tipped the guy at the dealership oil change place $5 for quickly topping off my washer fluid (free).

I tip 20% on all orders (assuming they use that iPad display thingy. Minimum wage is poverty level. If you can afford take out coffee, you can afford the extra $.50. Try to think of a scenario where you would do that job.

Then we need to make minimum wage an affordable living. Crazy that in the 150 years since slavery ended in the US minimum wage has only increased $7.25.

What a martyr you are OP. How DO you put up with those grubby little baristas assisting you?

Make your own damn coffee.

JFC. They're pouring a friggin coffee for $15/hr. It's their job, they are not going above and beyond (presumably). They don't need to be tipped for doing their job.

Tip or don't tip, but quit b8tching on the internet about how easy their job is and how greedy they are. Get a damn life.

If it's a fleeting interaction - maybe not. Maybe just the charge. If I reguarly go there - yes, I'll tip.
