I honestly have never been so fuming over a survey. Wtf do you do with this info. The how to talk to your child info was ridiculous. Trust me I want the brutal truth and care about my dc’s mental health , but honestly what do you do with an area deemed not a strength…ugh

We've have lessons two or three times a week (depending on the block) that cover these skills. Some are created in house and some are the required SEL lessons provided by the county. The most recent lessons this week were on coping with stress.

Some of these my MS kid has found dumb, some helpful. I don't think it's a bad thing to do with a portion of their 'study hall' period given that my kid was never great with using that time wisely anyway.

We opted out for a reason.

I just got this today, and feel better hearing others reactions.

I'm still pretty pissed off that this information is of record. (I really don't want this private mental health information to be used by teachers or others.)

Our principal has spent this whole year signing our classes up for this pilot and that pilot on SEL skills and…it’s been dumb. The counselors and teachers gave better tips in prior years on managing emotions than these university sponsored programs are teaching my kids. So hard pass here. Spend school time on reading, writing, science, history, geography, and math.

When/how/where did you get a report on the SEL screener? I haven't seen this yet.

Agree, plus they have counseling as a special. In middle school, there's a whole class period devoted to terrible Positivity slides. Its all crap.
