Are they teens? My kids are 16, 13 and 11. They can devour a pan of brownies in a night ("we cut reasonable slices!") and a pack of oreos in 24 hours. NO WAY are they getting anything fancy. Heck, I hide their granola bars so they last a few days.

Are the kids aware that you are eating chocolates that they don’t get to share? Are you eating the candy in front of them on a nightly basis? Just keep them to yourself but eat them out of sight. No big deal.

I think it is very rude to eat something in front of others without sharing.

I have my (bio) daughter a Hershey’s kids while I ate a fancy truffle the other day. I suspect she liked what she got better. (She’s two. No way am I wasting my nice chocolate on her now or possibly ever.)

I go to Paris, my home town, to buy my favoritest of favorites, Debauve et Gallais chocolates. Woe betide anyone who eats more than a token piece!!!

Me again. We get a few nice things from France every year, and most of it I don't care about - my kids eat all the foie gras they want, for example. But my chocolate? Woah.

I think it's bad manners and bad modeling to eat something desirable in front of another person and not share (if they have a treat that they like more than your chocolates then it's not such a big deal). I think your husband is weird to go behind your back and give them the chocolate, does not seem like a good solution. I think you need to think about how blended family dynamics are different that non-blended. I'm divorced and I can imagine this causing a lot of unnecessary strife in our family. I know my kid would be complaining a lot to both her non-step parents and she would feel extra slighted if a step-parent did this.

My husband and I both do it (different sweet treats); we just don’t eat in front of the kids and squirrel it away.

I do it all the time and hide it.

How old are the kids? It is a bit evil stepmother to eat it in front of them if they are preschoolers, but older kids it's fine to have things that are just for you as long as they also get things they enjoy. If the kids don't get any treats of their own it's also pretty rude. But your husband sounds a bit looney to make a big deal out of it.

If your husband bought the same chocolates for the kids and forbid you from having one wouldn't you feel bad?

Wth. Yes, hide it, what is wrong with you. How do the kids even know about it. Jerk move witch
