I went to HYP, and I barely make enough to live on. Grim? I'm in a very low-paid profession. I don't care about making money, and I never have. I didn't choose a college based on how much money I would make after going there.

There’s no harm in asking if there is a need that is not being met. A long time ago, I was accepted ED to Penn. My parents struggled to afford it and, every year, asked Penn if they could increase my aid to help close the gap. And for my first three years, Penn increased its grants by a few thousand dollars. (They did not do so my senior year.) It wasn’t much more aid, but it definitely helped. My parents’ negotiations, however, were based on their need (which Penn probably thought they were meeting with their original aid package).
