I’m an engineer, been a successful engineer for 20+ years. Work with engineers/cs developers from UVA, VA Tech, GMU, Georgia tech, lots of other schools. I’ve never heard of Pitt before coming on these boards. I don’t think it’s as awesome as you guys seem to think it is.

I wonder since JMU is not as established in engineering if companies actively recruit from their school and if students are able to find great jobs out of college.

I want to be sure I understand, are you saying it doesn't really matter where the engineering degree comes from? That it is better to focus on location of the school etc?
What if the decision was for (possibly) chemical engineering and the choices were Pitt or VA Tech, for a female student? Understand there is a huge difference in location urban/rural, but otherwise what do the engineers think?

^^ was about to post the same thing. JMU is a college town only. Pitt is in the middle of a city. Once she visits, she will know which is right.

My daughter lives in VA and her first choice was VT. She has heard Pitt has a stronger engineering program. We just don't know much about the school.

Not sure what you mean by same everywhere, but did get civil engineering graduate degree from CMU and got the cyber sec pre-sale job right after CMU?
