I enjoyed Disney as a whole more than expected, but the Magic Kingdom was kind of a disappointment. Way too many "rides" that were really just sitting and looking at animatronic crap. I don't need to wait 45 minutes to see a bunch of dolls in a cave sing It's a Small World.

The Grand Canyon from the rim. Maybe if you hike down into it or that cool glass overlook, but one section of the rim looks like the rest.

I had no expectations of St Louis, MO but I absolutely hated every minute I was there.

Were you with my in-laws? They can do that.

It’s no Paris, but there is a phenomenal zoo, a cool and enormous city park (I think I read maybe as big as Central Park?), good symphony and museums, a small but cool area of restaurants and galleries and bars and stuff (U. City/the Hill). But again, doesn’t make up for my spouse’s family.

I loved it but I'm Southern and I like the spooky Southern Gothic thing. Plus the food was amazing!

I love LA but it’s Detroit with better weather.

I adore LA but LA is not a city, it's like a country in itself. Santa Monica / Palisades are completely different than Echo Park. Brentwood and Topanga Canyon are nothing alike. IMO, LA is not the best city for visiting but an amazing place to live, especially as a young person. I do have two classmates who are raising their kids in LA, so it's possible, with tons of money.

I loved Savannah, New Orleans, and Paris. Another city people are often let down by that I loved was Venice.

Places that didn't live up to expectations include Rome, Bali, Varanasi, and Chicago.

Greece. It’s very photogenic but that’s the thing about “photogenic.” It’s better in photographs than in person.

No, not San Diego!! I loved it there so much we even went back. The weather is absolutely perfect. The little gas lamp district. Padres game. Such a cool town. Not to mention the golf. I kinda want to move there.

Ah well, no accounting for taste!

Mine:
Hawaii
London (though I go a lot for work and have come around some, I was super unimpressed first time)

True. But fascinating culture and sights.

Hawaii.

My own fault for poor research, but I was expecting something quieter and less developed...more exotic. Instead I got traffic jams and Walmarts. It felt like Florida with better scenery. Which makes sense since it's a state.
